William Wood

William "Willie" Wood, 77 of Ashdown, passed away Sunday, March 16, 2025 at his home. He was born September 01, 1947, to Earnest and Edna Wood in Kilgore, TX. He graduated in 1965 from Kilgore High School, then earned his Bachelor's degree from East Texas State University in Commerce.

He retired from Cooper Tire and Rubber Company in 2004 after 30 years of service as a tire room supervisor. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, 4-wheeler riding, grilling, and smoking meats, frying fish and conversation. He was noted to be able to "talk your ears off." He loved all his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his father and mother-in-law, Doyal and Helen Clay, and his nephew Jeffery Hadaway.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Cynthia Clay Wood, 3 sons and daughters-in-law; Terry and Peggy Martin of Canyon Lake, TX, Michael and Shannon Wood of Ashdown, AR and Jon Wood of Ashdown, AR; one daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Jason Jones of Alleene, AR, Twelve Grandkids; Kaylin Jones, Emaleigh and Aron Cisco, Carsen Jones, Ethan Jones, Rebecca and Josh Westberry, Callie Wood, Hunter Wood, Hunter Best, Sunni and Barrett Sellers, Brinly Wood, Zane Martin, Aubrey and Anthony Collazo; 7 Great-grandkids, Tucker, Ella, Elijah, Hadley, Willow, Sophie, and Declan. One brother and sister-in-law; Ernie and Gay Wood of Kilgore, TX, and a sister and brother-in-law; Sarah and Jamie Hadaway of Ashdown, AR; sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, Sharon and Johnny Parker and Ronnie Clay all of Ashdown; and numerous other family members, friends, and former co-workers.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, March 20, 2025, at 1 PM, with Brother Jim Cross officiating at Chapelwood Funeral Home in Nash, TX. Burial will be held at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Ashdown, AR.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, March 19, at Chapelwood Funeral home, from 6 to 8 PM.

The family will be at the home of William and Cynthia Wood.
