William "Duck" Howell, age 72, of Leary, Texas, passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 2, 1953, in Mena, Arkansas, to Erva and William Howell.

Duck spent many years working as a supervisor at Smith-Blair and was also a talented carpenter. He took pride in his work and was known for his dependability, strong work ethic, and willingness to help anyone in need.

Life was meant to be enjoyed, and Duck did just that. He loved riding motorcycles, tinkering with his antique cars, and spending time with his many friends at On The Border. Whether sharing stories, lending a hand, or making someone laugh, Duck had a way of making people feel welcome. His quick wit, generous heart, and easygoing nature left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

More than anything, Duck loved his family. The time he spent with them brought him his greatest joy, and the memories they shared will be treasured forever.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Erva and William Howell; his sister, Judy Soares; and his brother, Delbert McEntire.

Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Mason Howell and wife Crystal, and Dustin Howell and Lauren Kirkland; his granddaughter, Hollan Howell; his sisters, Linda Berry and Denise Freeman; and numerous other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at Texarkana Funeral Home–Texas. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park under the direction of Texarkana Funeral Home.
