Ruby Jeanne Gardner, age 77, of Texarkana, Texas, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, May 23, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on October 5, 1948, to Marie and Burette Odell.

Ruby spent many years working as a cashier at Road Runner and Rehkopf, where she enjoyed visiting with the people she met each day. Outside of work, she loved watching football and tennis and never missed a chance to enjoy a good game. Ruby was known by those who loved her as a strong, tough, and fiercely independent woman who could always take care of herself and the people around her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Marie and Burette Odell, and her cousin, Dollie Riggs.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Garrett Gardner and wife, Samantha, of Texarkana, Texas; her sister, Kathie Gary of Paris, Texas; her dear friend, Brandy Swift of Hooks, Texas; along with many other family members and friends who will miss her deeply.

Ruby's strength, determination, and love for her family will never be forgotten by those who knew and loved her.

Services are pending with Chapelwood Funeral Home and will be announced at a later date.
