Robert Wayne Henderson, age 78, passed away June 9, 2026, at a local hospital in Texarkana, Texas. He was born on October 5, 1947, in Pittsburg, Texas, to the late Arthur Bryan and Edith Mae Brooks Henderson.

Robert grew up in Winnsboro and Dallas before moving to Hooks, Texas, at the age of 16, where he was raised by Roy and Marguerite Henderson, his oldest brother and sister-in-law. He graduated from Hooks High School in 1966, then served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He retired from Red River Army Depot, where he worked as a Management Analyst.

He was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church of Hooks, where he actively served on several committees. In addition to his church service, he proudly served on the Hooks ISD School Board for many years. Robert was a devoted husband, father, papa, and friend whose greatest joy was his family.

Robert was known for his sharp, sarcastic sense of humor and his honesty—he would tell you the truth whether you were ready to hear it or not. He was a generous man with a giving spirit who truly enjoyed helping others and would give you the shirt off his back. He found joy in life's simple routines, especially his morning visits to the coffee shop with friends, where the world's problems were solved daily. He took pride in mowing his yard, woodworking, and cooking. He never missed a chance to have a good time and loved singing karaoke. A lifelong sports fan, he especially loved watching Holly and Emma compete in all their different sporting events.

He  was preceded in death by his daughter, Holly Lynn; three brothers, Roy, LT, and Floyd; Six sisters Edna, Pauline, Jeannie, Lois, Eva, and Sheila.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years Susan Zachry Henderson;  One daughter Heather Farquhar; one granddaughter Emma Caroline Farquhar; three sisters Etta Hooker and husband Billy, Glenna Talbot, and Dana Gooch and husband Don; One brother-in-law Kirk Zachry and wife Rose; numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends; along with one very special fur baby, Molly Mae.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 13, 2026,  at Chapelwood Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 12, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
