Penny Lanelle Tyrone, age 61, of Texarkana, Texas, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, June 8, 2026, at her home.

Penny was born on August 27, 1964, in Texarkana, Texas, and was a lifetime resident of Texarkana. She was a talented hairstylist and cosmetologist. She was a Christian and a person of faith. Penny had a free-spirited, full-of-energy, full-of-life spirit. She approached each day with enthusiasm, independence, and a sense of adventure that inspired those around her. Penny always looked out for others; she took great care to make sure the needs of those around her were met.  Penny also found joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially singing, dancing, and riding her trike with friends and family. She was involved in many fundraisers and organizations, including the Toys for Tots annual Toy Drive and the Breast Cancer Awareness and Suicide Awareness Campaigns.  But, most of all, her daughter Erika and her grandchildren were the love of her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Estelle Merrell.

She is survived by her daughter, Erika Symonds of Texarkana, Texas; her grandchildren, Estella Honeyman and Easton Symonds both of Texarkana, Texas; one brother and sister-in-law, Arthur and Teresa Merrell of Texarkana, Texas; cousins, Rhonda Hampton, Tina Hampton, Pamela Fawcett, Theron Walston, Teresa Walston, Michael Walston, and Terry Walston; one aunt, Elizabeth Hampton; two nieces, Kristal Scoggins, Amanda Merrell Rochelle and one nephew, William Merrell; and too many friends to list.

A celebration of Penny's life will be held at 5:00 P. M. Sunday, June 14, 2026, at Texarkana Funeral Home, Arkansas, with Bro. Matthew Butler officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00 to 5:00 P.M., one hour prior to service time.
