Mary Nell Mathis, 77, of Maud, TX passed away at her home surrounded by her family on April 27, 2026.

Mrs. Mary, or better yet known to those who loved her as Mamaw, was born on April 6, 1949, in Springhill, AR., Mary lived a life marked by kindness, strength, humor, faith, and enduring love for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was known for her career working many years serving the students at Maud school cafeteria. She had a love for reading, enjoyed playing bunco with friends, and attending her church home, Maud Church of Christ. She dedicated much of her life to comforting others. She rarely ever met a stranger, and to know her was to love her.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents Granvel Page and Rosie Lee Townsend. Brothers, Royce, Arthur Dale, and James Townsend. Sister Vena Mae Biggers. Her husband of 50 years, Richard Mathis and one son, Steve Mathis.

She is survived by her daughter, Christi Fox (Dale); five grandchildren, Kaleb Keller (Jessica), Madison Mathis, Kendall Mathis (Shelby), Dalton Landreth (Ginger), and Abby Mathis; and nine great-grandchildren, Landen, Kason, Sydni, Rhett, Rayleigh, Bryce, Brentley, Amelia, and Oakley. Numerous brothers and sisters, and special friends.

Those who knew Mamaw will remember her for her guidance and grace, giving us all words of encouragement and wisdom. The impact she left on all of our hearts is tremendous.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, May 9th, 2026 at Center Ridge Cemetery in Maud, TX. Family and Friends are invited to attend.

Mamaw will be Forever loved and deeply missed by us all.
