It is with heavy hearts that our family announces the passing of Marlene Carol Canada, 89, of Texarkana, Texas. Marlene passed away peacefully at home on Monday, September 21, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Marlene was born on December 27, 1936, in Big Springs, Nebraska, to Milford Hedglin and Lucy Tschacher. She was a woman with a big heart who spent her life caring for others. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother, dedicated nurse, and a friend to so many.

Marlene had a way of making people feel loved and cared for. She spent her career as a nurse helping others and touching countless lives along the way. Her kindness, strength, generosity, and compassion were simply a part of who she was.

She loved the simple things that made life special. She loved working in her flower gardens, creating beauty with her own hands. She loved riding on the back of her husband Larry's Harley, with the wind in her hair and a smile on her face. She enjoyed spending time with the Backwater Jacks MC family at the clubhouse, sharing laughter, friendship, and an occasional beer or two.

Marlene was preceded in death by her parents.

She leaves behind her loving husband, Larry Stanford; sons, Lee Canada and his wife, Edith, Michael Canada, and Bobby Canada; sister, Eileen Wythe; one granddaughter; three great-grandchildren; and many family members and friends who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.

While our hearts are broken by her passing, we are thankful for the beautiful life she shared with us. Her love, laughter, kindness, and memories will remain with us always.

Rest peacefully, Marlene. Your work here is done, but your love will live on forever.

A memorial service is pending under the direction of Chapelwood Funeral Home.
