Margaret "Jane" Norwood, age 85, of Texarkana, Texas, passed away with courage and grace in her home on January 7, 2025. She now peacefully resides with our Lord.

Born Margaret Jane Cummings, on May 8, 1939, in Nashville, Arkansas, she was a 1957 graduate of DeQueen High School. Jane furthered her education at Central Arkansas Teacher's College.

Jane is survived by her loving husband, Garnet Norwood; daughters Amy Marchena and Barbara Mote; grandchildren, Kennedy Nugent, Madelaine Nugent, Trumann Nugent, Scarlett Nugent-Nolan, Isabella Marchena, Roman Marchena, Katie Mote, and Ava Mary-Jane Marchena; great-grandchildren, Angelina Nugent, Cash Nugent, Declan Nolan, and Mabel Jane Nolan. She is predeceased by her parents, Coy and Mary Cummings, and great-granddaughter, Kennedy Jane Nugent Nolan.

Jane was a dedicated wife, married to Garnet Norwood on July 15, 1961. She was a loving mother, faithful follower of Christ, passionate educator, and excellent homemaker. She possessed a spirit and passion for giving and praying for others. She made sure everyone was served first, often including a generous portion of her famous melt-in-your-mouth chocolate sheet cake. Everyone had a place at her table, and everyone was welcome. She enjoyed endearing lifelong friendships, including her sister-in-law, Dottie Norwood. The two of them celebrated with laughter and joy and were the best two Vacation Bible School teachers ever.

She will be remembered for her kindness, gentle spirit, graceful beauty, and her unwavering courageous faith. Her favorite Bible verse, Romans 8:25, "But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it," reflected her enduring optimism and love for Christ.

A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. located in the Chapel at Texarkana Funeral Home, 3515 Texas Boulevard, Texarkana, TX 75503.
