Judy Baggett, age 79, passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord and Savior on June 8, 2026. Born on October 17, 1946, Judy lived a life centered on faith, family, friendship, and love. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend whose kindness, humor, and joyful spirit touched countless lives.

Judy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Benny Baggett; her mother, Doris Lanelle Black Puckett; and her father, John Coy Puckett.

She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Belinda Brown (David); her children and their spouses, Lawanna Wallace (Danny), Randall Baggett (Kim), Shanna Allen, and Stacy Wiltshire (Tony); her grandchildren, Jonathon Wiley and Sam Carter (Stormy), Amon Allen (Kearston) and Aaron Allen (Courtlyn), Whitney Wiltshire (Griffin Rogers) and Sarah Harris (Chance), Abby Baggett, Eli Baggett, Kaylie Owen (David), and Kristen Lewis (Stephen); 13 great-grandchildren; her niece, Lori Brown; her nephew, Braden Brown (Sophia); and her sweet cousin, Kathy Lynn Martin.

Judy loved her hometown of New Boston, Texas, where she graduated from New Boston High School in 1965. The friendships she made there remained precious to her throughout her life. In 1974, Judy and Benny made their home in Red Lick, where they raised their four children and built a life filled with love, laughter, and treasured memories. She deeply loved her community and the people who shared in their journey.

Judy loved children and spent many years babysitting and caring for countless children throughout the community. Many remained dear to her long after they were grown, and her loving influence touched generations of families.

Later in life, Judy was blessed with opportunities to travel throughout the United States and abroad. She marveled at the Northern Lights, traveled throughout Canada and Nova Scotia, explored Europe and Great Britain, and especially loved the beauty, history, and culture of Italy. She experienced the wonder of Niagara Falls, admired the colors of New York in the fall, and enjoyed the charm of Mackinac Island. She treasured these adventures and the memories made with family and friends along the way. Those fortunate enough to travel with her fondly recall her adventurous spirit—and her remarkable ability to misplace just about anything that wasn't attached to her.

If you knew Judy, you probably heard a few of her favorite stories more than once—and you were glad to hear them again. One of her most cherished memories was skipping school as a teenager to travel to Dallas and catch a glimpse of President John F. Kennedy before his assassination. Judy proudly claimed that JFK blew her a kiss as his motorcade passed by, and she never tired of sharing that story with family and friends.

Another favorite tale involved a pet monkey her daddy once brought home. After the monkey bit Judy, her mother quickly put an end to the situation. Judy proudly told that story for years. These memories, along with countless others, reflected her sense of humor, gift for storytelling, and ability to bring laughter to those around her.

Judy's greatest joy was her family. She treasured every opportunity to spend time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, creating memories they will cherish forever. She also dearly loved her extended family and maintained close relationships with her cousins throughout her life. Family gatherings, visits, phone calls, and shared memories were among her greatest treasures. She especially loved sitting on her front porch, visiting with family and friends and enjoying life's simple moments.

Many of her loved ones will fondly remember her singing "You Are My Sunshine," a song she loved and one that became a reflection of the warmth, joy, and love she shared so freely. Just as the song suggests, Judy brought light to those around her and will forever remain a bright presence in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Judy was a born-again Christian and a faithful member of First Baptist Church. Her love for Christ was evident in the way she lived her life and cared for others. She found great joy in teaching children Bible stories and sharing the love of her Savior. Her unwavering faith guided her through life's joys and challenges and remains part of the legacy she leaves behind.

Around the Texarkana area, Judy was known for her talent for shopping and her eye for beautiful things. She especially loved visits with her longtime hairdresser and dear friend, Scott Martin. Judy was famous for calling at the last minute and saying, "Why do I need an appointment? It only takes 20 minutes." Scott always found a way to fit her in, and she loved feeling her best after every visit.

One of Judy's greatest joys outside of family was her monthly Bunco group. On the last Wednesday of each month, she eagerly anticipated spending time with her dear friends. Those gatherings brought her tremendous happiness and were among the highlights of her month.

Judy never met a stranger. Her warmth, humor, generosity, and genuine love for others earned her many lifelong friendships. She was loved by all who knew her and leaves behind a legacy of faith, devotion, family, friendship, and unconditional love.

Though her family will miss her deeply every day, they find comfort in knowing that Judy is now reunited with her loved ones who have gone before her and is forever in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Funeral services will be held 4:00 pm, Friday, June 12, 2026 at Chapelwood Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will take place the hour before of service.

Burial will follow at Red Lick Cemetery.
