Josephine "Josie" McDonald, age 88, of Texarkana, Texas, died Saturday May 23, 2026 at the Brookdale Assisted Living surrounded by family.

Born Josepha Baur on February 25, 1938 in Kruichen, Germany to Georg and Josepha Baur. She married Bobby Joe McDonald on December 31, 1959 and moved to the United States in 1960. Upon moving to the U.S., she learned the English language and later learned to drive. On September 17, 1969 , Josie received her U.S. Citizenship.

Preceding her in death was her husband of 59 years, Bobby Joe McDonald (2018) and grandson Hunter Brian Roberts (2007).

Survivors include her daughters, Linda Roberts (Billy) and Brenda Bryan of Texarkana, Texas; two granddaughters, Chelsea Blair (Riley) of Lowell, Arkansas and Brooke Vaughn (Randall) of Nash, Texas; two great granddaughters, Aspen Blair and Addalyn Vaughn.

Services will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 27, 2026 at the Chapelwood Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bryan Bixler officiating. Burial will be in Chapelwood Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1-2 Wednesday prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to First Baptist Church Senior Adult Group or to the Texarkana Humane Society.
