John Wayne Bennett, 72, of Texarkana, passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2026. He was born on July 16, 1953, in Los Angeles County, California.

John was a carpenter by trade and took pride in working with his hands. He also served his country honorably in the United States Navy from 1972 to 1975, receiving an honorable discharge. His time in service reflected his strength and quiet dedication.

He was known for his love of the outdoors, riding motorcycles, and living life as a true free spirit. John valued independence and found joy in simple moments spent outside and on the open road.

He is survived by his sons, Ryan Bennett and his wife, Deidre, and their son, Carter; and Devin Bennett and his children, Garrison, Phoebe, and Becket; as well as his nieces, Bobbie Villeneuve and family, and Teasa Scott and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Oma Delois Bennett and Earl Bennett; and his sisters, Frances E. Bennett and Bonnie Allen.

Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Friday, May 1, 2026, at Chapelwood Funeral Home with Brother Wallace Edgar. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 30, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
