Jimmy Hugh Sisk was born January 29, 1936 to Charles and Lowral Sisk in Nash, Texas in their home. He arrived to a wealth of family, with five brothers –  Jack, Ed, Billy, Charles Jr, and Frank and four sisters – Nell, Lois, Ruth, and Rene. His parents continued to be blessed and Jim was there to greet his younger siblings Jesse, Alma, David, Harvey, and Glen into the world.

He worked on his family's farm, graduated high school and quickly found his lifelong career in carpentry and construction, one that allowed him to spend a number of years in Alaska before returning to Texarkana. He continued to keep a vegetable garden no matter where he lived, a connection to his roots growing up on a farm.

From his marriage to Mary Spicer, Jim had five wonderful children – Kathy, Jimmy Jr, Edie, Scott, and Matt. Upon his marriage to Barbara Johnston, he welcomed Becky Smith into his family and had one daughter, Katherine, who preceded him in heaven, and one son, Jesse.

He loved outdoor activities – camping, hunting, and fishing, especially with his family, his brothers and cousins, or with church members. Like many in his circle of family and friends, Jim loved watching football, particularly the Dallas Cowboys, and baseball, a faithful fan of the Rangers since the Senators relocated to Texas.

It was playing softball for Mountain View Baptist Church in Anchorage and a Father Daughter Banquet there with Kathy that guided Jim to renew his faith in God. He maintained this relationship on his return to Texarkana, joining Richmond Road Baptist Church in 1983, where he and Barbara stayed active members, regardless of how well the softball team did.

He was quick to listen and slow to speak, hard-working, and eager to serve God and his church. Jim is survived by his wife Barbara, his sister Alma and brother Glen, his children Kathy, Jimmy, Scott, Matt, Becky, and Jesse, nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

He crossed over to death on the morning of April 18, 2026. He is loved on both sides of that door.
