Janice P Martin, 87, of Texarkana, Texas passed away Monday, November 25, 2024, at a local hospital.

Janice was born March 8, 1937, in Washington County, Arkansas to James T. And Bernice (Phillips) Phillips. She graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1958 with a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics. She married Jerry C. Martin in 1960. They celebrated 55 years of marriage together until his death in 2015.

She was the center of the lives of her children and grandchildren. She will be remembered as a very talented homemaker and devoted mother and grandmother. Janice was a member of First Baptist Church of Texarkana, Delta Delta Delta sorority, P.E.O. Chapter V, and Rose Garden Club of Texarkana.

Janice was preceded in death by daughter Jan L Martin and husband Jerry C Martin.

She leaves behind two daughters and sons-in-law, Jo and Kenny Bennett of Texarkana, Arkansas, and Jaci and Mike Merritt of Mount Pleasant, Texas. She is affectionately known as "Snookums" to her grandchildren Hayden Merritt, Ali Grace McKinney (Austin), Riley Bennett and Parker Bennett. Snookums loved and was involved with her grandchildren's many friends treating them as her own. She also leaves behind her caring friend, Louise (Momma Lou) Moore.

Visitation will be held at 9:00 AM on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at First Baptist Church Texarkana. Service will be at 10:00 AM following the visitation in the Atrium of First Baptist Church Texarkana, officiated by Bryan Bixler and Jeff Schreve.

Interment will be at Coop–Prairie Cemetery in Mansfield, Arkansas on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at 3:00 PM.

Honorary pallbearers are Kenny Bennett, Riley Bennett, Parker Bennett, Mike Merritt, Hayden Merritt, and Austin McKinney.
