James Lee DuCote, age 85, of League City, Texas, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, February 8, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on January 16, 1941, in Houston, Texas, to Marjorie Evans DuCote and Eugene DuCote.

James was a highly respected attorney known for his integrity and dedication to all those who came into contact with him. He owned and operated his own practice, James DuCote Law Firm, and practiced law in Galveston, Houston, and the surrounding Bay Area. He was a faithful and devoted member of Nassau Bay Baptist Church in Houston, Texas, where he served with a servant's heart as a deacon.

His family would describe him as an avid runner,  innovator, and a humble man who deeply loved his family and his faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marjorie Evans DuCote and Eugene DuCote, and  three brothers and sister, Kemp DuCote, Mary Moses, David DuCote and  Lynn DuCote.

He is survived by his wife of sixty-three years, Julie DuCote of League City, Texas; his brother and his wife, Paul and Sandra Kemp; his son and daughter-in-law, Jeremy and Leigh DuCote of Fulshear, Texas; his daughter and son-in-law, Meggan DuCote-Credeur and Bryan Credeur of Hockley, Texas; and his two beloved grandchildren, Kincade DuCote and Kadence DuCote.

The family will receive friends at Texarkana Arkansas Funeral Home on Friday, February 13, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Texarkana Arkansas Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Beck officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens.
