Hugh Dean Babb walked into the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, September 9, 2026.

She passed away at home with family.  She spent her last weeks with her kids which was where she was happiest.

Hugh Dean was born in Bodcaw, AR on April 11, 1932 and is now in her forever home.

She was 94 years old and lived a very fulfilling life.  Her family moved to Hooks, TX from AR where she finished junior high and high school.

She went to work at Red River Army Depot from where she retired in 1987.  After a few years of retirement she was asked to substitute at Hooks Elementary School and ended up staying for 17 years.

Hugh Dean loved the Lord and diligently read His Word until she lost her eyesight.  She would then do her Bible "readings" and devotions via Audible.  When the name Hugh Dean was spoken you almost always heard the word "sweet" with it.  She was a sweetheart to all.

Hugh Dean Babb is survived by her children; Phil Robertson and wife Teresa of DeKalb, TX; Pam Meador of West Monroe, LA; Lisa Robertson of Hooks, TX;  grandchildren; Ashley Jones and husband Casey of Houston, TX; Lauren Ferguson and husband Beau of West Monroe, LA; great grandchildren; Cooper Thompson, Elerby Thompson, Colt Ferguson , and Shelby Ferguson.

Proceeding her in death is Michael Babb, her husband of 50 years, her parents Grace and Hugh Smith, and her sister, Ann Smith.

A visitation will be held Saturday, September 12 at the Chapelwood Funeral Home in Nash, TX from 10:00 AM until Noon, followed by a private family-only graveside service.
