George Allen Slaton, 95, of Texarkana, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2026.

He was born January 8, 1931, in DeQueen, Arkansas, to Fletcher and Della Slaton. George proudly served his country as a United States Marine and dedicated 40 years of service to the Texarkana, Texas Fire Department before retiring. Throughout his life, he was also a member of the Texarkana Board of Realtors and a Mason.

George was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was preceded in death by his parents and nine brothers.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 75 years, Reda Megason Slaton of Texarkana; his daughter, Lesley Slaton and her husband, Ed Scroggins, of Grapevine, Texas; and his granddaughter, Jinger Bland Huggins and her husband Mike, of Weatherford, Texas.

George will be remembered for his many years of service to his country and community, as well as for the love and devotion he gave to his family.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 26, 2026, at the Chapelwood Funeral Home Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Texarkana, Texas Fire Department, 919 Elm Street, Texarkana, Texas 75501 in George's memory.
