Ermalene (Erma) Taylor Brewer, or Mamaw as she was affectionately known, left her earthly home peacefully on January 1, 2025, after a short illness, with her daughters holding her hands as she entered Heaven's gate. We know she was greeted by her our daddy, our brother, her parents, and many other loved ones who had gone before her.

She was born on November 1, 1931, in Hooks, Texas, to Jerome and Lydia Taylor. She lived her entire life in the Red Lick community until last Thanksgiving when she moved to Midland, Texas, to Cimarron Place assisted living facility to be closer to Lydia and her family. After a very big adjustment to leaving her homeplace of 60 years, she thrived being close to the grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoying all their activities. Cimarron became a loving community for her, and she was elected Resident Ambassador after a few short months of being there. She will be missed by her sweet friends there and we want to say thank you to all the administration and staff for making her last year such a happy one.

She married Joe Davis Brewer on June 3, 1951, and he preceded her in death in 1990. After his death, she became a caregiver to her parents, her mother-in-law Bessie Brewer, and her sister-in-law, Alma Brewer. She lost her only son, Joe Brewer, Jr. in April of 2023, and she never fully recovered from that grief-filled time. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Karon Brock (Reginald), her brother, Carlos Taylor (Maxine), Joe's brothers, James Brewer (Bernice), and Gerald Brewer (Alma), and many other close family members.

She is survived by her daughter, Lydia Toon of Midland, Texas; her daughter, Vicki Rowe(Mark) of New Boston, Texas; her daughter-in-law, Lori Brewer of Sterling, Colorado; grandchildren, Leslee Day (Jon) and Brooke Johnston (Blake), all of Midland, Texas; Claire Rowe of New Boston, Texas, Carmen Vollentine (Michael) of College Station, Texas; Beau Brewer (Amanda) of Flagstaff, Arizona, and Brett Brewer of Durango, Colorado; great-grandchildren, Peyton, Zach and Davis Day; Cooper, Laney Kate, and Hayes Johnston, and Olivia Vollentine; many nieces and nephews, and her best friend of 50 years, Brucene Rehkopf.

Erma graduated from Hooks High School in 1948 where she was a member of the volleyball team. She was a lifelong member of Red Lick Methodist Church where she served in many different capacities over the years. While her children attended Red Lick Elementary, she was always a very active member and officer of the PTA.

She retired from Collom and Carney Clinic in 1999 after 33 years of service, and no matter where we went, she always saw someone that she knew, and we always teased her that she knew everyone in the Texarkana area through her affiliation there. After retirement, she enjoyed taking bus tours with close friends for several years. She was a strong, independent lady who loved telling you about her God, and she left us with that legacy. How thankful we are to have had the example she set for all of us and the prayer warrior on whom we could all depend.

Her service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, January 6, 2025, at Red Lick Methodist Church with Chuck Huffman, Steve Petty, and Don Crutcher presiding. All are welcome to attend a reception in the fellowship hall following the service, in lieu of visitation. Pallbearers will be Beau Brewer, Brett Brewer, Mark Rowe, Jon Day, Blake Johnston, Michael Vollentine, Hayes Johnston, and Davis Day. Honorary pallbearers will be Zach Day and Cooper Johnston.

The family will be at the home of Mark and Vicki Rowe at #10 Dad's Retreat, New Boston, Texas.
