Dorothy Ann "Dottie" Miller passed away peacefully on April 7, 2026, at the age of 90. Dottie was born on October 2, 1935, to Edwin and Edna Roberts in Mason City, Iowa.

Her early years were spent in Iowa and Minnesota. Dottie graduated from high school in 1953 in Waseca, Minnesota, and then began her nursing education program at the Northwestern Hospital School of Nursing in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Upon receiving her RN, she and her best friend moved to San Francisco, California. While there, Dottie met a young Naval JAG officer by the name of Edward Miller. Ed and Dottie were married on August 13, 1966, in Worthington, Minnesota. After the wedding, the two moved to Ed's hometown of Texarkana, Texas, and Dottie began working as an OR nurse at Wadley Hospital.

In 1968, Dottie began the role that she loved most of all, that of being a mother. In 1968, she and Ed welcomed their first daughter, Melinda Ann, and four years later, Anna Marie. Dottie was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend. She loved nothing more than being a mom and being surrounded by her family and friends. In 1985, Dottie became a mother again, but this time to a German son, Arnold Buessemaker. Arnold was the first of the exchange students that Ed & Dottie welcomed into their home and into their hearts and family. In 1989, they welcomed a second German son, Gerhard Buessemaker. The bonds created remain to this day as they lovingly refer to her as "mom." In 2000, Dottie became a mother yet again, but this time in the role of grandmother. In 2000, Ed and Dottie welcomed the first of their five grandchildren. While she was an active volunteer within the church, the schools, and the community, her first and foremost love and focus was always that of her family.

Dorothy Ann Miller was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Charles Edward Miller, and her parents, Edwin and Edna Roberts.

She is survived by her daughters, Melinda Ann Holt and her husband Greg of The Woodlands, Texas, and Anna Marie Hornsby and her husband Troy of Texarkana, Texas; her grandchildren Miller Hornsby, Connor Hornsby and his wife Kathryn, Jared Holt, Lauren Hornsby, and Austin Holt; her brother, Harry "Buzz" Roberts and his wife Sharon; her German sons Arnold Buessemaker and Gerhard Buessemaker and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and her special caregiver, Lena Watson.

A visitation will be held on Friday, April 10th from 4:30 - 6:00 p.m. at Hardy Memorial Methodist Church and a celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 11th at 10:00 a.m. also at Hardy Memorial Methodist Church.
