Rev. Dr. Donnie Lewis, known to friends and family as Don, was a devoted servant of God, a loving husband, father, grandfather, educator, and lifelong learner.

Don served for many years as a Methodist pastor, where his passion for Scripture and commitment to teaching God's Word shaped countless lives. His ministry extended beyond the pulpit into the classroom, where he also served as a college professor. Don encouraged thoughtful study and a love of learning, believing that faith and knowledge are strongest when nurtured together. He later wrote and published an ethics textbook, reflecting his dedication to teaching.

Music was one of Don's great joys and a meaningful part of his ministry. He loved to sing and play the piano, often using music as a form of worship and a way to bring people together. His music flowed straight from the heart and left a lasting impression on those who heard it.

Don shared 51 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Evelyn. Their marriage was a testament to love and steadfast devotion. Together they raised four children: Sharon, Jody, Sharma, and Scarlett. He was preceded in death by his father, Levi Lewis, and is survived by his mother, Louise Lewis, and his brother, Steve Lewis.

Known affectionately as "Popo," Don was a proud grandfather to nine grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense joy.

Don also served as a missionary in the Philippines and Bayonne, New Jersey, and loved to travel. Above all, he was passionate about studying the Bible and living out his faith daily. He will be remembered for his gentle wisdom, joyful spirit, and deep love for family, friends, students, and congregations. His life was a blessing, and his legacy will continue through the many lives he touched.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at New Faith United Methodist Church in Redwater, Texas with a visitation an hour prior to service. He will be lying In-State on Friday 8:00 AM to 8:00 pm at Texarkana Funeral Home, TX. Interment will take place at Memorial Garden Cemetery in Texarkana, Arkansas.
