David Wayne Birdwell, age 76, died on September 23, 2025. Born in Texarkana, Texas, on July 28, 1949, David's life was a testament to hard work and generosity.  He had such pride in his family, community, and church. He was a faithful member of the First Church of Red Lick. He knew the Lord and was blessed to see his children and grandchildren saved.

David was preceded in death by his parents R.B. & Bessie Birdwell; brother, Neil Birdwell; and sister, Jo Ellen Sisk.

He leaves behind his best friend and sparring partner of 57 years, Sherry Ann (Evans) Birdwell, three loving daughters, Leigh Ann Haley (Robert Cullom), Lori Willard (Jordan), and Lindsey Prewitt (Cliff), eight grandchildren, Jade Harris (Will), Allison Haley, Slate Ruth, Martin Haley, Carter Prewitt, Sam Prewitt, Anna Haley, and Judah Willard, his sister, Janet Hoffheins, and many special nieces, nephews, cousins & friends.

His greatest joy was being Paw.  He loved the land he called the "Hundred Acre Woods", spending his time enjoying it with the family - exploring, catching critters, and telling stories about his childhood. He supported every team that his grandkids were a part of.  Even in his final years, his spirit was unbroken, keeping a positive outlook despite health difficulties.

He was a truly committed husband, the best daddy, the Paw that everyone wishes they had, and a friend to everyone he met.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to all the family and friends for their continuous prayers, love, and support during this time. A celebration of David's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Church of Red Lick, P.O. Box 60, Nash, Tx 75569.

A Celebration of Life will take place Sunday, October 12, 2025 at 2:00 PM First Church in Redlick, Texas.
