Carolyn Alzena McGee, 90, of Texarkana, Texas, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 5, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on August 7, 1935, to Jewel and Velma Blackstone.

Carolyn was a faithful member of Williams Memorial and the Gleaners Class. She dedicated many years of her life as a librarian with the Arkansas Independent School District, where she quietly touched countless lives through her love of books and learning. She also found great joy in caring for her grandchildren, creating memories that will be cherished for generations.

In her free time, Carolyn enjoyed reading, walking with her "mall friends," researching genealogy, attending the Hospice of Texarkana grief group, and playing beanbag baseball at Cornerstone. She lived a life full of simple joys, meaningful friendships, and a deep love for her community.

Her family lovingly remembers her as a natural storyteller. If interrupted, she would quickly say, "anyway," or firmly remind everyone, "I'm going to finish my story." Those moments, filled with laughter and personality, will be treasured always. Carolyn was a devoted and supportive mother and grandmother who deeply loved her family. She also enjoyed traveling and spending quality time with those she held dear.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Joel McGee;  parents, Jewel and Velma Blackstone; and infant son, William.

Left to cherish her memory are children, Margaret McGee and wife Sarah, and Martha Dunbar and husband Butch; grandchildren, Zach Dunbar, Colleen Brown and husband Devin; brother, Mac Blackstone; along with a host of extended family and dear friends.

A graveside service will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park on Monday, June 8, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., with Minister Greg Morgan officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. at Texarkana Funeral Home–Texas. Following the service the family will gather at Martha and Butch Dunbar's home located at 4909 Lesley Ln, Texarkana, Texas.
