Papaw Obituary

Calvin Byrd Norris, 83, passed into the arms of his Savior on Thursday, May 21, 2026. He was born on October 21, 1942, to Pearl Elizabeth Pippins Norris and Reeves David Norris, in Alexandria, Louisiana. He graduated from Tioga High School in 1960 and married Marie Carlino Norris on September 3, 1962. He graduated from Louisiana State University with a bachelor's degree in animal science in 1968.

Mr. Norris was many things to many people, but he was first and foremost a dedicated husband, a loving father and grandfather, and a very excited great-grandfather to be. In his college years, he was on the LSU Livestock Judging team and went on to coach the team following graduation. After working for LSU, he and Marie moved to Fouke in 1973, where he served as cow crew foreman at Double R Ranch until 1985. He then worked as an insurance agent for Farm Bureau Insurance until his retirement in 2005. He enjoyed nothing more than a good horse, a good dog, and time with those he loved. Many of his most cherished memories came from time with family, time on Double R Ranch, or on the LSU campus.

Mr. Norris is preceded in death by his parents, Pearl and Reeves Norris, mother-in-law, Opal Barton Lofton, father-in-law, Anthony "Tony" Carlino, and his son-in-law, Rob Buck.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 63 years, Marie Carlino Norris (Fouke, AR) , daughter Lisa Norris Buck (Texarkana, TX) and son Cutter Norris, and daughter-in-law K.K. Jones Norris (Fouke, AR), brother-in-law Frank Lofton, and wife Geri (Taylor, AR), who was also thought of as a son. He was very proud of his grandchildren, Elizabeth "Libby" Anne Norris Skinner and Aaron Skinner (Texarkana, AR), Robert Reed Buck and Chloe Moody (Texarkana, AR), and Lily Claire Marie Buck (Texarkana, TX). His first great-grandchild, Myles Henry Skinner, will be born later this summer and taught to cherish his great papaw's memory always. Mr. Norris had an abundance of family, friends, and other relatives who will always remember him fondly.

Visitation will be held Saturday, May 23, from 10:00 to 11:00, with a memorial service to follow, both at Texarkana Arkansas Funeral home. The family is gathered at Cutter and KK's home.
