Calvin Farley, age 83, of Hooks, TX, a devoted father, family man, and lifelong hunter,
passed away on December 10, 2025. He was born on November 2, 1942 in Redland, OK to
Carl Farley and Beulah (Crowell) Farley.
He was preceded in death by his father Carl, mother Beulah, brothers Horace Leon,
Joseph Fred, Doyle Judson, Lonnie, and sister Barbara June. Left to embrace his memory are
his loving wife Judy Farley of Hooks, TX, cherished daughters Doris Nelson of Winter Haven, FL
and Lisa Parrott and son-in-law Kenneth Parrott of Texarkana, TX, treasured grandchildren
Sidney Nelson, Scott Nelson, Eric Nelson, Tanner Parrott, Autumn Parrott, and Angelique
Parrott, partner in crime brother Denzel Farley of Redland, OK, little sister Elsie Allen of Harris,
OK, numerous beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and close friend and
chosen brother David Clark of Wake Village, TX.
Calvin spent his life rooted in the values of hard work, self-reliance, and love for the
outdoors. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War,
where he worked in Radio Relay and Military Communications. His service required precision,
reliability, and quiet dedication—qualities that defined both his military career and life. He was
honorably discharged and remained proud of his service and fellow veterans.
After returning home from Vietnam in 1966, Calvin met his loving wife Judy and began work at
Lone Star Army Ammunition Plant working with explosives. After settling into their new life
together, they were blessed with two daughters Doris and Lisa.
In 1975, Calvin began his well established career at Red River Army Depot in Hooks, Tx
where he made lasting friendships. He worked in the preservation and packing department and
enjoyed training countless fellow coworkers. His daily gym workouts may have shortened to two
days a week, but he enjoyed going and definitely helped keep him healthy and spry. At the time
of his retirement in 2024, he was the oldest employee at 81 years old and had been with them
for 51 years.
In Calvin's free time, he enjoyed being with family, whether it was after school activities with the
grandchildren, game nights at home, or just visiting during a nice meal. He loved watching
westerns, the Cowboys play ball, and his best kept secret his culinary abilities (they were
delicious)! He enjoyed squirrel and deer hunting, finding his greatest peace in the woods. Deer
camp was more than a season, it was a tradition he looked forward to every year, a place of
stories, early mornings, shared meals, and lifelong friendships. Whether sitting in his deer stand
or sitting by the fire after a long day, those moments brought him deep joy.
Calvin built a life rooted in hard work, loyalty, and family. He was known for his steady
presence, dry humor, and willingness to help others without recognition. He will be remembered
for his quiet strength, his love of the outdoors, and his unwavering devotion to family and
country. Funeral services will be held at Chapelwood Funeral Home, Nash, TX, on Saturday,
December 20, 2025, at 11:30 am with Bro. Tim Montgomery officiating. Military honors will be provided. A visitation will be held on
Friday evening from 6:00-8:00 pm at the Chapelwood Funeral Home.
